Behind every litre of high-quality milk is a series of smart, informed choices – about nutrition, herd health, and how to unlock optimal performance from every feeding strategy.
In Southern Spain, two dairy professionals are leading that charge: Adrián González Garrido, a seasoned ruminant nutritionist, and Pablo Larrosa, technical manager of El Barranquillo, a 500-cow dairy farm. Together, they’re not just managing change – they’re raising the bar. And at the centre of their success story? GoNutri Energy.
Raising the bar on milk fat: The reason they first tried

Adrián supports a network of dairy farms across Spain. When milk fat percentages started slipping, especially in summer, he began searching for a reliable solution. Something effective, consistent, and compatible with existing feeding programmes.
“My clients needed a way to increase milk fat without compromising diet balance,” Adrián recalls. “When I looked at the research behind GoNutri, it immediately stood out. It wasn’t just promising; it was proven.”
Pablo faced a similar challenge at El Barranquillo, where hot, humid summers traditionally meant a drop in fat content and a hit to margins. “We started using GoNutri as a seasonal strategy,” he says. “But we quickly saw it was much more than that. Over time, it became a year-round tool.”
The results: More fat, more milk – without compromise
Those early trials didn’t just meet expectations. They exceeded them. Across multiple farms, Adrián saw an average 0.3% increase in milk fat and an additional litre of milk per cow per day. For Pablo, the gains were both seasonal and sustained: milk fat peaked at 3.8% in winter, and remained above 3.4% even in the hottest months. It was a game-changer for profitability.
“These aren’t overnight results,” Pablo explains. “But within a few weeks, we saw not just higher fat, but better overall performance. When the cow’s energy metabolism is running smoothly, everything improves.”
Feeding strategy, rebalanced

But what makes GoNutri Energy apart isn’t just its results. It’s the science behind them.
“GoNutri isn’t just adding fat. It’s diversifying the energy sources in the ration by balancing different types of carbohydrates and fats – which improves rumen fermentation. That’s critical for cow health and metabolic efficiency,” explains Adrián.
The outcome? More milk, more fat, and better use of every kilogram of dry matter.
“These aren’t gains that happen overnight. On our farm, we saw fat improvements fairly quickly, but the broader performance gains took three to four weeks to show. When the cow’s metabolism is working better, everything improves – not just the fat test,” Pablo adds.
“GoNutri isn’t just adding fat – it’s rebalancing the whole diet. When you improve rumen fermentation and energy use, you get more milk, better fat, and stronger efficiency.”

At El Barranquillo, GoNutri is added to a premix that’s prepared in the mixer wagon roughly every 36 hours, applied to both high- and medium-production groups. “We adjust the dose depending on production stage,” Pablo explains, “and we also use it in prepartum cows since they share the same premix. It’s become a core part of our feeding approach.”
The business case: From results to ROI

For dairy farms, performance always comes back to one question: does it pay off?
Adrián and Pablo share the numbers:
“With an average dose of 300 grams per cow per day, we see about three-tenths of a per cent fat increase and roughly one extra litre of milk per cow per day,” Adrián reports. “Even if you only count the fat gains, the product delivers profitability under standard market conditions.”
Pablo runs the math for his operation:
“An increase of 0.3% in milk fat lifts our milk price by more than €12 (around USD14) per metric tonne. With production averaging 36 kg per cow per day, the added income quickly outweighs the cost of supplementation. Over three years, GoNutri has proven again and again that it’s worth the investment.”
But profitability isn’t just about inputs and outputs. For both experts, reliability plays a key role.
“We’ve never had mixability issues or product quality problems. And with GoNutri’s strong supply management, we’ve been able to count on consistent availability, which is critical when you’re running a large herd,” adds Pablo.
Beyond the product: Partnership that delivers
Both Adrián and Pablo stress that good products need good backup – and GoNutri delivers.
“I have an excellent relationship with the GoNutri team,” says Adrián. “Their technical field staff and sales team are engaged, well-informed, and proactive. They provide strong support, from answering questions to sharing international research updates. That kind of collaboration really makes a difference.”
“Mixability, supply, product quality – we’ve never had an issue. With GoNutri, we know we’re working with a dependable, well-supported solution.”
Pablo Larrosa (Technical Manager of El Barranquillo farm)
Pablo agrees: “What stands out is their commitment to supply reliability and personalised attention. You don’t just get a product – you get a responsive, hands-on team that helps you get the best from it.”
Not a miracle, just smart
Perhaps the most striking takeaway from both Adrián and Pablo is the measured, realistic way they talk about GoNutri.
“This isn’t a miracle solution,” Adrián says. “It’s a solid, dependable fat source that we nutritionists can use to improve dietary balance and energy use. It’s just a tool, but when used correctly, it delivers meaningful, measurable results.”
Pablo nods in agreement: “After three years, I can say GoNutri Energy has become an essential part of our feeding strategy. I’ve already recommended it to other farms, because when something works, it deserves to be shared.”
